Dr Keith Sunderland

Keith Sunderland is Assistant Head of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and provides leadership for the discipline of Electrical Services Engineering within the School. He is a chartered electrical engineer (MIEI) with research interests in the application of (renewable) distributed generation technologies from the perspective of network tolerance to issues such as power quality and load side demand management. In particular, he is interested in modelling the climatology of the urban wind resource and its applicability to smarter cities with increased distributed wind/solar generation (DwG/DsG). In this regard, he is currently participating in the COST Action TU1304: “Wind energy technology reconsideration to enhance the concept of smart cities”. Keith reviews for the Elsevier journals, Wind Engineering & Industrial Aerodynamics and Renewable Energy. He is also Deputy Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Design and Applied Research. Formerly an electrician with Ianróid Éireann, he is Technical Secretary of Technical Committee No. 2, Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) whose primary task is the development (publication) and maintenance of the (Irish) National Rules for LV Electrical Installations. Keith's publications are available in DIT Arrow.
