Hothouse Start-up Impresses on Dragons’ Den
DIT Hothouse Start-up, Sadies Kitchen receives €50k Investment
Hothouse alumnus, Sarah Kiely of Sadie’s Kitchen wowed the judges on RTE’s Dragon’s Den on Sunday night to secure a €50,000 investment from Dragon, Alison Cowzer. Sarah is based in Hothouse’s Greenway Hub Incubator in DIT Grangegorman and recently completed the Hothouse ‘New Frontiers’ programme.
Sarah wowed the judges with Gavin Duffy particularly impressed at what he called, ‘The special one’. Commenting to Taste.ie, Sarah shared their excitement, ‘The entire experience on the Den was amazing. The Dragon’s really put me through the wringer, but I loved every second of it. To get backing from Alison, who is so influential and experienced in the food industry, was one of the best moments so far on the Sadie’s Kitchen journey. I’m so excited to build our brand and expand the business together.’
Her inaugural product is a tasty bone broth made from free range chicken meat and bones, slowly simmered with fresh vegetables, herbs and organic apple cider vinegar. It can be bought at quality food retailers nationwide, including Dunnes, Supervalu and Avoca.
‘New Frontiers’ is Enterprise Ireland’s national entrepreneur development programme. It is delivered by DIT Hothouse, in conjunction with IADT Media Cube in Dun Laoghaire. It comprises 3 phases and offers successful entrepreneurs a combination of training, incubator space and a €15k tax/equity free stipend. Recruitment takes place circa every 3 months.
