Trade mark
A trade mark is the means by which a business identifies its goods or services and distinguishes them from the goods and services supplied by other businesses.
It can consist of words, (including personal names), designs, logos, letters, numerals or the shape of goods or of their packaging, or of other signs or indications that are capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one business from those of others.
Registering a trade mark creates an official record of your rights as owner of a particular trade mark and makes it easier to prevent others from using it. Registration can be done via the Irish Patent Office (www.patentsoffice.ie) or the equivalent in any other country.
