Copyright

Copyright is a set of economic rights which enable the creator to control the use of a particular idea or information in a number of ways. Copyright is a form of Intellectual Property and allows the inventor to gain financial rewards for his/her idea which encourages future creativity. Copyright can be easily exploited so it is crucial for the inventor to protect their idea/information. Usage of such protected material requires permission from the copyright owner/creator.
There is no official application or registration for copyright as it is deemed official once a record in any form has been made. Once in physical form, assuming it is original, copyright is automatic.

Exclusive Rights of the Copyright Holder:

  • To produce and sell copies/reproductions of his/her work
  • To import/export this work
  • To create derivative works
  • To perform/display the work in public
  • To assign these rights to third parties.
