Dr Suzanne Martin is the manager of the IEO Centre and is the Principal Investigator for research projects in holographic materials and devices. She is author of 29 articles in peer reviewed journals as well as posters and conference presentations in the area of holographic materials and devices. She has been co-inventor of a number of new technologies developed in IEO for which three patents have been granted to date. She has been awarded external research funding of €845,000 as principal investigator and €555,000 as a co-investigator. As manager for the IEO Centre she was one of the original contributors to the successful application for PRTLI-Cycle 1 in 1999 which funded the Facility for Optical Characterisation and Spectroscopy (FOCAS). Dr Martin is a co-inventor and co-founder of Optrace Ltd., which is a DIT spin-out company underpinned by research conducted by the IEO team and led by Dr Izabela Naydenova. Optrace produces holographic labels that can enhance security and branding on all types of packaging or labelling. Each label is as “unique as a fingerprint” and Optrace Ltd is the only producer able to manufacture these using a patented process and secret know how. Dr Martin and her colleague Professor Vincent Toal won the 2013 Best Researcher Invention Award for their Novel Diffractive Optics invention. In 2009 she and her colleagues, Professor Vincent Toal, Dr Izabela Naydenova and Denis Bade won the Overall Best Invention award. In 2009 Dr Martin was also nominated for the Enterprise Ireland One to Watch award. List of current research publications can be found on Researchgate |
