How do I access my email account from home?

The easiest way is to use the DIT Portal http://mydit.ie which is available from anywhere on the Internet.  To log in use your assigned username (usually your staff number) with your password.  To manage your password, go to https://mypassword.dit.ie.  For any email account queries, please contact the Service Desk at support@dit.ie, ext. 3123.

If you need to use an email client such as Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook, use the following settings:
Incoming server:  imap.gmail.com
Outgoing server:  smtp.gmail.com
You must turn on SMTP authentication for an email client to function outside the DIT network.

If you use a laptop at home and in work, you may use the above settings when connected to the DIT network also.
