Access from home - Athens Accounts

DIT Library has access to some databases that are authenticated via Athens. Athens is an access management system that allows for the remote delivery of electronic resources to registered users. Athens is used by many Higher Education institutes in the UK and Ireland and enables you to log on to multiple resources by using a single username and password. If you are using a DIT computer (i.e. you are on the DIT Network) you may use the library Athens account. The username and the password are available from library staff at the library desk. If you wish to access an Athens service from home you will need to set yourself up with a Personal Athens account. To do this please follow the steps below:

From a DIT networked computer set your browser to http://www.athens.ac.uk/

  • Click on Login to MyAthens
  • You will be prompted to enter a Username and Password. Click on the lock icon below for access to the username and password page.
  • You will be prompted to 'Create your personal account'. Please read the instructions carefully.
  • You will be notified by e-mail that your account has been successfully created. Please note that your personal account Username will always begin with 'dit'.
  • You can then use your personal account to logon to My Athens at http://www.athensams.net/myathens/
