Developing a Hybrid Module
Overview
The term 'hybrid' is used to describe a module in which half, or more, of the instruction is delivered online. Going beyond just hosting supplementary materials online, traditional face-to-face contact time is reduced and lecturers and students interact and collaborate online, optimising student engagement by taking advantage of all that the rich online environment has to offer.
This workshop will introduce the participants to the necessary steps in building a hybrid module, from planning through to piloting, with plenty of practical tips, hints and demos. Follow up workshops and/or consultancy sessions can be arranged serving the particular needs of those who attend.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this hands-on workshop participants will know how to:
- Identify a module that would work well as a hybrid module
- Understand how to plan the module, design and develop content, harness technologies to create learning opportunities, and pilot the module

This workshop is suitable for any lecturer who wishes to change the mode of delivery of half, or less, of their module/s, utilising online technologies to create valuable learning opportunities and optimise student engagement.
