Apprenticeship in the School

When the Technical Education Committee of Dublin Corporation opened the College of Technology for technical and technology education in 1911 at Bolton Street, Mechanical Engineering was one of the study courses offered.  Bolton Street formed the basis for another development that was Day Apprentice Education, a way of learning in which the apprentices are released from their place of work one day per week to undertake study in their apprenticeship area.   Although the structure has changed since then our School is still supporting this educational approach through Apprentice Education in a number of areas such as Welding, Fitting, Sheet Metalwork, Metal Fabrication, Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
