Heavy Vehicle Technology Courses

Commercial Vehicles have been the backbone of trade in Ireland for over 70 years. In more recent times the ‘Celtic Tiger’ has led us into a new age of consumerism, what with internet shopping, e-business solutions, etc. However, it still remains the domain of the Commercial Vehicle to provide the means of delivering goods to many of the nations businesses and individual consumers.

Training for Success

The modern Commercial Vehicle is steadily incorporating new devices, special features and modern electronics to make them safer, more comfortable and environmentally friendly. These technological improvements have added to the overall complexity of the vehicle, making fault-finding more complex and time-intensive. Therefore, the Modern Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will require advanced, concentrated training and experience in this area.
The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Technology Course provided by the Transport Department is aimed at people who wish to pursue a career in maintenance and repair of Commercial Vehicles. The college provides ‘Off-The-Job-Training’ for Phase 4 and 6 of the standards based apprentiship system. Classes are kept intentionally small and individual attention is given whenever possible.
