Curriculum Approved

Vivien Ocampo, Course Coordinator presented to the Universitary Council of Mozambique on the curriculum implemented by ICEE. 60  political members of differents parts of Mozambique were present.All council members voted for the final and legal aprobation of the curriculum.

DIT Optometry Lecture Position Vacant

Job Description:

The School of Physics is seeking to appoint an Assistant Lecturer in the area of Optometry. The appointee will contribute to the delivery of the B.Sc. (Hons.) in Optometry programme, participate in the development of this programme and other programmes within the Department, and assist in the development of the National Optometry Centre. The appointee will also be involved in Continuing Professional Development for the profession of optometry.Link

University Ulster Development Awareness

Students and staff of University Ulster have raised €2520.98 for Eyecare in Developing Countries. They celebrated World Sight Day 2010 and held a talent show in March 2011. DIT students who visited Mozambique earlier in March gave a presentation on their experience in Nampula and what life is like for the Mozambican Optometry Students.

Childhood Vision Screening September 2010, March 2011

Children from three schools in Nampula underwent vision screening in September and March. This project forms part of a PhD study to develop a Child Screening Strategy for Mozambique. The Project also enabled the UniLurio Optometry Students in Year 2 a chance to showcase their new practical skills to the visiting lecturers and students.Over 700 children had their vision checked, 37 of whom were referred to Nampula Central Hospital Ophthalmology Department for further investigation.
