Irish National Baking Team compete in Coupe d'Europe de la Boulangerie.
The Irish National Baking Team, including three lecturers from DIT's School of Bakery, traveled to Nantes, France this weekend to compete in the European Cup - Baking Competitions from Sunday 06 to Tuesday 08 March. The team will hope to equal, if not beat, their performance of last year which saw them win silver. Mr. Derek O'Brien, Head of the National Bakery School, said "This team have made steady progress at these competitions over the past 4 years - they were placed seventh in France in 2001; 6th in Switzerland in 2002; 3rd in France in 2003; and last year were placed second at the competition in Denmark. It's no secret that they would like to aim for Gold this year, but of course the competition is extremely high particularly from the teams from France and Switzerland."
The team flew out on Friday.
