esp@cenet - the database of ideasEPO Patent Search Training Workshop

esp@cenet is an entry level service, providing free internet access to more than 60 million patent documents from around the world. The workshop will include a presentation and demonstration of the basic search functions. Practical demonstrations and open - ended hands-on exercises will complete the session.
Participants will:
- Use the 4 basic search functions.
- Understand the coverage information and database updates
- Access the user support facilities: help index, quick help, extended help files and the esp@cenet assistant, to improve their searching
- Learn how to construct search strategies, and use truncations and Boolean operators to best advantage.
- Learn how to understand, manipulate and navigate through hit lists.
- Learn how to access, navigate, and download original documents
- Gain an understanding of some of the more advanced features and functions, how to keep an eye on your competitors
- Learn how and when to use the hyperlinks to RegisterPlus and Publication Server.
The latest additions to the esp@cenet feature set including forward citations and the machine translation tool will be highlighted.
