Good information makes for good CAO choices
This week, in a mailing to CAO applicants who have placed DIT among their preferences, the President of the Institute has encouraged prospective students to find out as much as they can about course content before finalising their choices by July 01. Referring to a list of contact details for members of academic staff, Professor Norton urged students to contact the people delivering the course so they can understand more fully what is involved.
However, the President’s message also urged students not to think of the academic side of college life only. He said “We have a strong reputation for teaching excellence, for our career-focused programmes and for an intimate and friendly atmosphere,” but, he added, that “DIT has a strong social ethos and our students get involved in clubs, societies, sports and student union activities throughout the year, providing lots of opportunities for making friends, having fun and developing new skills.”
In addition to factual information from the institution, many students rely on word-of-mouth from current students and recent graduates. The mailing also includes comments from a number of this year’s first year students who highlighted aspects of what they feel is really positive about DIT – ranging from sport to societies, and from helpful lecturers with experience in industry to an active and supportive students’ union.
Any students who wish to find out more about any DIT programme they have included in their CAO application, can contact firstname.lastname@example.org or can contact a member of the academic staff on that programme – for a full list click here.
Students who would like more information about Campus Life or Sport at DIT should email email@example.com to request a copy of the DIT Campus Life CD-ROM.
