Silent Voices
Events in DIT Kevin Street
4th - 6th March 2008

Silent Voices is a series of events run in DIT Kevin Street for Library Ireland Week, March 2008.The theme refers to traditions that may not be in the foreground [i.e 'silent'] and the events - mainly in poetic form - are a celebration of those voices.
Tuesday 4th March, starting at 6.45pm Reading of a Classical Chinese poem and the performance of traditional Chinese music. In the Staff Room at DIT Kevin Street.
Wednesday March 5th & Thursday 6th March, starting at 7.15pmMs Nuzhat Abbas a leading Pakistani poet will present traditional Sufi poetry, Antaine Ó Faracháin will sing in the sean nós style, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill [leading Gaelic poet and member of Aosdána] will complete the session. In DIT Kevin Street Library.
Tuesday 4th March - Thursday 6th March, at various times. A number of films from the FOMACS Centre [based at DIT] which deal with the same theme: The Memory Box, The Richness of Change and Undocumented in Ireland: Our Stories. In DIT Kevin Street Library.
These events a major cultural celebration that fits well with 2008 as the Year of Intercultural Dialogue.
They are a collaboration between FOMACS, DIT Library Services, School of Languages, Oifig na Gaelige, DITSU and CCSA.
