Full House for Launch of Be Inspired 2011
18 October 2011: The Gleeson Theatre in DIT Kevin Street was to full to capacity yesterday to hear Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton T.D. officially launch the Be Inspired, Be an Entrepreneur 2011 series.

Opening the event, Minister Bruton told the audience of over 300 students that Irish young people had a natural ability to be creative and innovative. These talents will help create new Irish businesses that will ensure the economy returns to a position of strength through the creation of jobs and growth, he said.
Special guest speakers on the day were two DIT graduates who have enjoyed great success in the word of business and entrepreneurship; Ray Nolan, founder of HostelWorld.com and Worky.com and Maurice Mortell, of DataElectronics recently purchased by TelecityGroup. They were joined by recent graduates of the Hothouse Venture Programme for business-start-ups, Eamonn Grant of FlowersMadeEasy.ie and Kevin Egan of TeamTraders.com

Recounting their own journeys to success, both Ray Nolan and Maurice Mortell emphasised that self-belief and determination are crucial for any young entrepreneur starting out today.
Asked by MC Conall O'Móráin to sum up what he felt was the most important characteristic for young business owners, Ray Nolan (left) urged potential entreprenuers 'to belive in yourself and never give up!'
Yesterday's event was the opening talk in the fifth series of 'Be Inspired, Be an Entrepreneur'which is organised by DIT Hothouse and sponsored by Dublin City Enterprise Board. 'Be Inspired, Be an Entrepreneur' is part of Innovation Dublin 2011, which takes place across Dublin from Oct 17th to Nov 18th. The festival demonstrates Dublin’s capacity to inspire, interact and innovate.
'Be Inspired, Be an Entrepreneur' continues on 2nd November 2011 when special guest speaker Richard Nash (Nash Wines and Ballygowan) will be joined by Hothouse Venture Programme alumni Derek Gallager (Mylunch.ie) and Ronan Percival (Phorest.com). The full schedule of 2011 talks can be viewed here
