Ann Curran, Programme Chair of the BA in Photography, says the exhibition will feature the photographic projects of seventeen final year students. “The 2012 BA Photography Graduate Exhibition is a diverse collection of photographic work which represents the culmination of four years of study. What emerges is an emphasis on social engagement with current political issues, both directly and indirectly, but also the weight of photographic histories which themselves take up physical and intellectual space. On a fundamental level, many of the projects are engaging in a dialogue, a constant re-evaluation and reconsideration of the nuances of the medium of photography itself.”
The exhibition will be open to the public and there will be an opportunity to purchase the photographs on display. A new feature of the exhibition this year will be a photobook library sited in the National Photographic Archive.
2012 BA Photography Graduate Exhibition runs at the Gallery of Photography and the National Photographic Archive, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, from Tuesday June 05 to Sunday June 24 – free admission.
