‘End of the World, Dawn of A New Era’ for DIT Fashion Show 2012

25th January 2012: The date has been set!  One of the biggest and most exciting events on the DIT calendar, the DIT Fashion Show takes place in Vicar Street on Wednesday, 21st March, 2012.

Now in its ninth year, the theme for this year’s DIT Fashion Show is “End of the World, Dawn of a New Era”. According to the Show Directors; “This year’s theme has been inspired by the buzz that is surrounding the prediction that, according to ancient Mayan culture, the world as we know it will end on 21st December 2012 and enter a transformative period. The audience at this year’s DIT Fashion Show can expect a dramatic show inspired by the end of the world theme and one that sends a real message about the times we live in.”

Every year the DIT Fashion show receives huge coverage in both the National and Local media.  This year’s show is proving no exception with the appearance last Friday, 20th January on the Late Late Show of three DIT students who are models in this year’s DIT Fashion Show.  According to Maud O’Callaghan, PRO for this year’s DIT Fashion Show; “The three DIT Students Odette Devereux, Hana Murphy and Mandy McGovern Brennan were handpicked by Andrea Roche to appear on the show as aspiring Irish models. It was great advertising for DIT and for the DIT Fashion Show and the models did a great job”.  In addition, this year’s show, for the first time, will be streamed live on AerTV.

The DIT Fashion Show is run entirely by students from DIT and indeed this year nearly 70 current DIT students are involved in the Show.  The DIT Fashion Show was started in 2003 by four enthusiastic second year students - Ciara O' Donovan, Andrea Byrne, Julie Sheehan and Lou Conlon.  Now an annual event, and in its ninth year, the show has grown from strength to strength and is now seen as a nationally anticipated charity event, with an exciting high-energy national Student Design Award. The show itself has won numerous awards including DIT Society Awards and National awards such as DIT's Best Event in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and the National BICS award for Best Event in 2004.

With the best in forward thinking fashion, and dance talent involved in the show, it is definitely a night not to be missed!  For more see
