NCAD/UCD: Urban Interventions in collaboration with DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama
“Orchestral Osmosis” is a project undertaken as part of the NCAD/UCD Urban Interventions module, in collaboration with DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin City Council Public Art Programme and! the Grafton Street Quarter Improvement Project.
The intervention will take place on Thursday, 10th May 2012 and involves the streaming and amplifying of music live from the D.I.T. Conservatory of Music and Drama on Chatham Row. The sound of musicians’ practice sessions will be amplified into Chatham Row and Clarendon Row to create a kind of impromptu, un-choreographed street concert which is invisible to the eye but resonates through the space.
The music will be amplified for a period of half an hour to an hour and will provide an interesting, ephemeral experience for passers-by. The work will push the boundaries between public and private space, allowing the inner workings to become public.
