10th February 2005
We are in the transition from the industrial age to a knowledge age. Advances in Engineering, Science, and Technology and ensuring that we have an adequate supply of skilled people in these areas are crucial to our success.
Governments around the world are seeking to measure up to the challenges of increasing national investment in research and innovation and developing the knowledge economy.
What are the implications for business and the engineering and science base.?
What are the implications for research funding and the funding bodies.?
How will we increase the collaboration between Industries and educational establishments to develop strategic partnerships?
How will we develop the three-way partnership between Industry, Universities and Funding Agencies?
And what does this say about how we should train, educate and support continuing development of employees and the networking needs of professionals in engineering and technology?
This presentation will address these issues and outline the main benefits to be achieved. The discussion will be set in the context by a wide range of illustrative examples drawn from recent research and innovation across a broad swathe of science, engineering and technology.
Refreshments at 5.30pm.
