What Engineers need to know about Business & Management

(but never quite knew who to ask)

Paul O'Sullivan, Director and Dean
Faculty of Business
Dublin Institute of Technology

Physics Lecture Theatre, Trinity College Dublin

Thursday 3rd March 2005, 6.15pm

This paper is very topical for the role of engineers in senior management positions as many engineers end up in management positions, driving multi-national and high technology industries.

Some of the key points addressed in the paper include:

  • Do Engineers make good Managers and does anybody know or care?
  • The Engineer/Manager and from Engineer to Manager.
  • What are the Pathways to Senior Management?
  • What is happening out there in the local and global economies?
  • What role do the Engineering and Business academics play in these developments?
  • So what do Managers actually do?

Paul O'Sullivan is the Dean and Director of the Faculty of Business in the Dublin Institute of Technology, Aungier Street.

The lecture is open to the public and all are welcome.
