DIT hosts Third China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry-Oriented Education - CEIS-SIOE 2007
The Third China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education will take place in Dublin on 6-7 February, hosted by Dublin Institute of Technology. The conference was established as a collaboration between DIT, Ireland; Harbin Institute of Technology, China; and the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. It aims to involve more academic institutes and industrial organisations in further developing software industry-oriented education in China and Europe. It will be attended by the largest-ever delegation to come from China for a conference on computing.
Supported by the Asia-Link Programme of the European Commission, Enterprise Ireland, the Ministry of Education of China and the Chinese Embassy to Ireland, the goal of the project is to develop and implement an education model for software development at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The model seeks to bring together the industry focus of DIT and the University of Wolverhamption with the advanced excellence in research of HIT. The project partners have developed an industry oriented education model for undergraduate software education, supported by a comprehensive curriculum and by a quality assurance system for software education.
CEIS-SIOE comes to Ireland for the first time, having been hosted previously in Harbin by HIT. As conference organizers, DIT's School of Computing has received excellent support at government level. The symposium itself will take place in Dublin Castle where guests will also be entertained at a banquet and at a céili.
