Building Information Modelling BIM

Tuesday 10th March
6:30pm DIT Bolton Street

Building Information Modelling (BIM); defined as the combination of parametric objects as building components within a 3D virtual environment to create or form the entire building. The BIM can automatically create orthographic projections and 3D models (wire frame or textured), cut sections, details in addition to cost and planning schedules, structural and energy models. The parametric building objects are not defined singularly but as systems using interaction with other objects and their own values (shape, texture etc.) within a BIM (Eastman, 2006).

Introduction to BIM –Malachy Mathews Lecturer, Dept of Architectural Technology, Dublin School of Architecture, DIT, Bolton Street
Historic Building Information Modelling HBIM – Maurice Murphy Lecturer, Dept of Construction Management and Technology, DIT, Bolton Street
3D Data Collection, Laser Scanning – Dr. Eugene McGovern, Department of Spatial Information Sciences, DIT, Bolton Street
