“The Black Stuff – history and myth” – Frank Harte Lecture

The Frank Harte Lecture will take place this year on 04 March, in DIT Bolton Street.  The lecture, entitled “The Black Stuff – history and myth”, will be delivered by Professor Cormac O’Grada, Professor of economics at UCD.

Frank Harte was a respected architect and a lecturer in DIT until his retirement in 1998.  He was also known both nationally and internationally as a singer, archivist and collector of songs and stories.  The Memorial Lecture is held each year in recognition of his significant contribution.  The Frank Harte Memorial Student Prize was inaugurated in 2006 and is awarded each year to an outstanding student in DIT.

Professor Cormac O’Grada is author of, and contributor to, many books on areas of Ireland’s economic and social history, and is an acknowledged expert on the famine period.  He teaches Economic History and the History of Economic Analysis in the School of Economics in UCD.

The lecture will take place on Thursday 04 March at 7pm in DIT Bolton Street – Room 348.  All are welcome to attend.
