DIT showcases its Academic Innovators

The Dublin Institute of Technology today (Thursday, 08th May 2003) presented the Annual Showcase of Learning and Teaching Innovations in the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin.

The showcase represents a significant platform for DIT to highlight and celebrate innovations and best practice that are happening across the Institute. Over 200 delegates, representing all of the faculties of DIT, were present at the Showcase.

Keynote speakers included Christ Rust, Head of Centre for Staff and Learning, Oxford Brookes Institute and David Baume, HE Consultant. DIT academics who are involved in innovative ways of supporting student learning also made presentations.

The main topics addressed were those of Supporting Student Learning, Curriculum Design, Portfolios for Professional Development and Learning and using ICTs to deliver and support the Curriculum and Distance Learning.

Speaking at the Showcase, Dr. Brendan Goldsmith, DIT President said; "The showcase is all about raising awareness and providing support and encouragement to academic staff in DIT who are using innovative teaching and learning methods to meet the changing needs of today's students and the students of the future".
