International meeting on solar water heating at DIT

11 November 2003

DIT is this week hosting a meeting of international experts in Solar Water Heating at its Aungier Street campus. The meetings of the International Standards Organisation and the Centre Européen de Normalisation are taking place from 10 - 13 November and are attended by representatives of most European countries, along with delegates from the USA, Australia and Botswana. During the three-day meeting, delegates will be working to develop standards to be used for product certification and consumer protection.

DIT's President, Professor Brian Norton, who is a delegation leader to the meetings, has had a long involvement in the development of test standards for solar water heating systems. Sustainable Energy Ireland is currently developing a strategy for greater use of this technology in Ireland.
