Dublin, 12 November, 2004   Over 23 and thinking about going to college? If so let DIT help you unlock your potential.   The Open Evening for Mature Students is an annual event at which DIT showcases its wide range of programmes and the opportunities available for mature students in the Institute.

Traditionally when attracting prospective students to Third Level Education the focus has been on Leaving Certificate students.  However this trend is changing rapidly and the focus over the last few years has been extended to 'lifelong learning' and providing 'back to education' opportunities to adults who for one reason or other have not yet availed of third level education. Dublin Institute of Technology welcomes students from a wide range of backgrounds, countries and ages.  Mature students are an important part of DIT's community and the Institute is committed to extending opportunities to adults returning to study.

The Open Evening will run from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. and staff from across DIT's six faculties will be there to meet prospective students, give guidance about choice of programme, and offer advice on all aspects of student life.   During the evening the Institute will also run two workshops that will guide the participants through the process of completing CAO applications.

Open Evenings are an excellent opportunity to see everything DIT offers, to meet staff and current mature students.  The event is designed to give prospective students an insight into life at the Institute.
