DIT fashion show at Vicar Street

DIT students take to the catwalk in Vicar Street next Tuesday, 22 February, for the second annual DIT Fashion Show.  The event aims to raise funds for the Marie Keating Foundation for breast Cancer Awareness and in doing so, according to the organisers, "it promises to be a melting pot of glitz, glamour, and all things gorgeous, featuring an eclectic mix of high street cool and young designer chic."

The theme for this year is CARNIVAL.  Louise Conlon of DIT says "Think Mardi Gras goes to the circus!  From models to dancers, to drag queens, wild costumes and fantasies relived, it is fashion anarchy at its craziest!  The collections featured on the night will be an eclectic mix of high street and young designer, with high street shops including Morgan, Miss Selfridge, Reiss, and Ceylon in the City."

The show is being hosted in Vicar Street by
98FM DJ Dermot Whelan, Spin DJ Emma B, and former Miss World, Rosanna Davidson.

Entrants for the student designer competition are coming from DIT, the Grafton Academy, DLIADT, and NCAD. Established designers will include Synan O'Mahony, John Rocha, Ciaran Sweeney, Caoimhe O Dwyer, and Antonia Campbell Hughes.  Hats by Jaime McEleney, amazing jewellery by Jennifer Kinnear of Kinkbijou, and the sexiest of underwear by Graham Cruz will also feature.

Competitions will take place on the night to choose the best model and best student designer.  The team of DIT models will be led by top Irish model Sarah Mc Govern, former President of DIT students' union.

Tickets for this event are available from all DIT Students' Union shops at €15.
