This year the School of Construction was invited to host the preliminary stage of the Skills competition as part of the Exhibition, and it was promoted as one of the highlights of the show. The Exhibition was opened by Minister for the Environment, Dick Roche TD and following the launch the Minister then visited the Competition stand to meet the staff of the School of Construction and the competitors in each of the categories. Mr. Donal Keys of the School of Construction organised the event on behalf of DIT. Mr. Keys said the Exhibition provided an excellent showcase for the Skills competition and was an ideal opportunity for industry to see the quality of workmanship by student apprentices in DIT.
