Linda Quinlan is AIB 'artist of promise'

04 May 2006: Linda Quinlan, who currently lectures in the Fine Art Department in DIT, is the winner of the 'AIB Prize' for 2006. The announcement was made at a reception in the RHA Gallagher Gallery yesterday, and the €20,000 prize was presented to Ms Quinlan by AIB's Group Chief Executive, Eugene Sheehy.

The award, which aims to support the work of an 'artist of promise', will assist Linda with the publication of a catalogue and facilitate the production of new work for an exhibition to be mounted next year in the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery in Cork.

Linda Quinlan lives and works in Dublin and has a membership studio in Temple Bar Gallery & Studios. Her recent exhibitions include 'Passing Through', an exhibition at The Glucksman Gallery, Cork: Gemine: Muse, an exhibition at The Palazzo della Penna Museum, Italy; a solo exhibition commissioned by the Concourse Installation Series, and Suberbia 2, a Cork 2005 project. She is currently preparing for a solo exhibition at the Fenton Gallery, Cork opening in May 2006. Forthcoming projects in 2007 include an invited artist residence and exhibition in Tasmania, Australia and a solo exhibition at the Crawford Municipal Gallery, Cork. Currently lecturing part-time in Fine art at The Dublin Institute of Technology, she is also co-founder of 'Four', an exhibition space in Dublin.
