EU Neon Nation - designed by NJBA A + U

The streetscape of Suffolk Street has been illuminated by the winner of the 2005 Gaelite Neon Competition which is now installed on the Habitat building.  Entitled 'EU Neon Nation' the piece was designed by NJBA A+ U, the architectural design practice established by Noel J Brady, lecturer in DIT's Dublin School of Architecture.

According to the designers, the concept for eu neon nation was chosen forthe Habitat Store "because of the links between trade and nationhood. The EU, founded as a trading bloc, is unified in the treatment of the flags as abstract pieces of light."  Formally opened on 21 February, the light sculpture will be in place for at least six months.
