Bigband Celebration - Let's Swing Again

The Dublin Institute of Technology Big Band will perform ‘Let’s Swing Again’ a concert of hits from the ‘swing era’ in Vicar Street on Thursday April 10th 2008 at 8.00pm. The concert will feature favourites from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and many more.

This year the band celebrates its 21st anniversary. Tim Hanafin has been leading this band for all of those 21 years and during this time many of Ireland’s current professional musicians played under his leadership.  For this concert many of them will be returning to join him and the present band members to make this event a night to remember.

From the beginning Tim received great encouragement from Ireland’s famous band leader Mick Delahunty. In 1986 The College of Music Big Band (as it was known then) was the only Big Band performing in Dublin. Things have changed a lot since then as Big Band music is now enjoying a welcome revival.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster price €20.00. The event is being run in conjunction with St Luke’s Hospital.  Doors open at 8.00pm and there will be a fully licensed bar.
