School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology Open Day

On Thursday 11th December, the organised an open day in Cathal Brugha Street. The event was a huge success and attracted a large number of prospective students.

Advice and information on all of the schools undergraduate, part-time and post-graduate courses was available. Visitors were able to meet teaching staff and talk to DIT students about their first hand experience of campus life at Cathal Brugha Street. Current students gave live demonstrations of a variety of skills in the various kitchen, bar and restaurant training areas.

The participating DIT students included Culinary Entrepreneurship (DT416), Culinary Arts (DT407), Bar Studies & Entrepreneurship (DT 417) Culinary Arts ?Catering for Health (DT444), Baking and Pastry Arts (DT418) and the Professional Cookery programmes. The open day was of great value not only to leaving cert students and career guidance councillors but also to postgraduate and mature students.

The school plans to hold another similar event next April.
