Bringing the Mediterranean to Wexford Street at the Student Enterprise Competition Grand Finale

The 2008 DIT Bolton Trust, Steorn Student Enterprise Competition Grand Final was held Wednesday 12 March 2008 in DIT, Aungier Street. Now in its 15th year running the competition provides a platform for students to present business plans with real investment potential and the opportunity to win a cash prizes. The competition is proudly, the largest third level competition in the country with a total prize fund of €13,500 and the top prize of €5000 up for grabs. Students from various DIT faculties including Tourism & Food, Business and Engineering came head to head presenting a variety of plans.

Winner 2008 Bolton Trust winners as Pasta & Basta, a pasta fast-food outlet conceived by International Business students from Aungier Street. Not only did Pasta & Basta win the overall competition with first prize of €5000 but they also scooped a further €500 for ?Best set of Accounts? sponsored by Ulster Bank.

Looking to the future

The competition was setup by Bolton Trust and is going from strength with the aim of fostering entrepreneurship and lifelong learning.  Richard Heywood-Jones, Director of Bolton Trust added that ?students are the real Engines of Growth within our economy and tonight?s presentations reinforce this?.
