Bill Cullen Challenges DIT Students to Succeed in Tough Times

Story Bill Cullen 2

Dublin, 10 February 2009:?Are you ready to succeed in Tough Times?? was the theme addressed by entrepreneur Bill Cullen at an event for prospective entrepreneurs today in DIT Kevin Street.  Speaking to a capacity crowd in the Gleeson Theatre, Cullen spoke about his own experiences, from leaving school at 13, to buying the Irish Renault franchise for £1, to becoming one of Ireland?s most recognisable businessmen through his role as star of the reality TV show ?The Apprentice?. Outlining some of the keys to his successes he encouraged his audience to ?keep a positive attitude, work hard and have the courage to follow through on your ambitions.?

At an event organised by the DIT Business and Marketing Society (BAM Soc) Cullen stressed that students ?must work harder and smarter to stand out from the crowd? in today?s increasingly competitive job market. He outlined his six key ?Apples? principles for success which include:

  • Attitude for Achieving
  • Plan of Actions
  • People Power
  • Learn to be Lucky
  • Energy to Excel
  • Sell with a Smile

Cullen emphasised the importance of doing business with a smile and being able to connect with people.  Summing up, he urged students to remember that ?a positive attitude and positive actions bring powerful results?. ?Your future does not just happen, you create it,? Cullen claimed.

The event was run in conjunction with the DIT Societies Office and sponsored by DIT Hothouse and Dublin City Enterprise Board.
