STAFF IRISH LANGUAGE CLASSES will take place this autumn in 4 DIT locations organised by Oifig na Gaeilge, DIT?s Irish Language Office with the support of the Staff Training and Development Unit. Six classes will be provided, aimed at learners from complete beginners to intermediate level and are free of charge to all DIT staff.

For Complete Beginners, staff, who have not studied the language before; a lunchtime class will take place in Kevin St. from 1-2p.m on Wednesday lunchtimes beginning 30th September 2009 and will last for 10 weeks.

In Bolton St., 2 levels are offered this term ? a Refreshers (Bunrang 1) Level for staff who haven?t studied Irish for quite some time but wish to refresh the basics and Intermediate level (Meánrang 1) is aimed at staff who have been studying the language and use Irish occasionally. The 2 classes will take place on Monday lunchtimes, 1-2p.m beginning September 28th and will last for 10 weeks.

In Aungier St., 2 levels are also offered this term ? a Refreshers (Bunrang 1) Level for staff who haven?t studied Irish for quite some time but wish to refresh the basics and Intermediate level (Meánrang 1) is aimed at staff who have been studying Irish and use Gaeilge occasionally. The Refreshers class will take place on Wednesday lunchtimes, 1-2p.m for 10 weeks and the Intermediate class will take place on Wednesday evenings from 5.30-7p.m and will last for 8 weeks. Classes will begin on Wednesday 30th September.

In 143 Rathmines Road, the Refreshers (Bunrang 1) Level is offered to staff who have not studied Irish for quite some time but wish to refresh the basics and the class will take place at Tuesday lunchtimes, 1-2p.m beginning September 29th and will last for 10 weeks.

The classes are informal and conversation based and the levels correspond with the European Certificate in Irish (www.teg.ie), an examination system for adult learners of Irish, developed by NUI Maynooth that is linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, should you wish to seek a qualification in Irish. If there isn?t a suitable Irish language level offered, please contact Oifig na Gaeilge for self study, online learning and other options.

Staff in DIT Bolton St. and Aungier St. campuses are also organising Informal Irish Language Conversation Circles, Ciorcail Chomhrá, in order to provide an opportunity to learn and practise everyday Irish in an informal setting. The ciorcail chomhrá are open to all staff and will take place in Bolton St. canteen on Thursday mornings from 11a.m (info: domhnall.sheridan@dit.ie) and in Aungier St. on Tuesday lunchtimes from 1-1.45p.m in the staff room, 2-049, beginning the week of September 28th (info: elena.keany@dit.ie / ptbrowne@dit.ie).

Oifig na Gaeilge will also be organising a Programme of Social and Cultural Events this season to support the Irish classes and keep an eye on www.dit.ie/gaeilge for upcoming events.

Beidh RANGANNA GAEILGE FOIRNE ar siúl an fómhair seo i 4 shuíomh de chuid ITBÁC, eagraithe ag Oifig na Gaeilge le tacaíocht ó Aonad Oiliúna agus Forbartha Foirne na hInstitiúide. Beidh 6 rang ar fáil ó leibhéil glantosaitheoirí go meánrang agus tá na ranganna saor in aisce d?fhoireann na hInstitiúide go léir.

I Sráid Chaoimhín, beidh rang do Ghlantosaitheoirí ar siúl gach Céadaoin ag am lóin ón 1-2i.n do bhaill foirne nach bhfuil tar éis staidéar a dhéanamh ar an Ghaeilge ag tosnú ar an gCéadaoin 30 Meán Fómhair ar feadh 10 seachtaine.

I Sráid Bolton, beidh 2 rang ar fáil an tearma seo; Bunrang 1, cúrsa athnuachana do bhaill foirne nach bhfuil tar éis staidéar a dhéanamh ar an Ghaeilge le fada agus is cúrsa bunúsach atá i gceist. Tá Meánrang 1 dírithe ar bhaill foirne atá tar éis a bheith ag déanamh staidéar ar an Ghaeilge agus a úsáideann í ó am go chéile ar fáil chomh maith i Sráid Bolton. Beidh an dá rang ar siúl gach Luan, ón 1-2i.n ag tosnú 28 Meán Fómhair ar feadh 10 seachtaine.

I Sráid Áinséir, beidh 2 rang ar fáil an tearma seo chomh maith; Bunrang 1, cúrsa athnuachana do bhaill foirne nach bhfuil tar éis staidéar a dhéanamh ar an Ghaeilge le fada agus is cúrsa bunúsach atá i gceist agus Meánrang 1, cúrsa dírithe ar bhaill foirne atá tar éis a bheith ag déanamh staidéar ar an Ghaeilge agus a úsáideann í ó am go chéile. Beidh Bunrang 1 ar siúl gach Céadaoin ón 1-2i.n ag tosnú 30 Meán Fómhair ar feadh 10 seachtaine agus beidh an Meánrang ar siúl gach Céadaoin ón 5.30-7i.n ag tosnú 30 Meán Fómhair ar feadh 8 seachtaine.

I Ráth Maonais, beidh Bunrang 1, cúrsa athnuachana do bhaill foirne nach bhfuil tar éis staidéar a dhéanamh ar an Ghaeilge le fada ar siúl agus is cúrsa bunúsach atá i gceist. Cuirfear tús leis an rang ar an Mháirt 29 Meán Fómhair ón 1-2i.n agus mairfidh an cúrsa 10 seachtaine.

Beidh na ranganna neamhfhoirmiúil, dírithe ar chomhrá agus beidh na leibhéil ag freagairt do Theastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (www.teg.ie), córas scrúdaithe d?fhoghlaimeoirí fásta Gaeilge atá forbartha ag Ollscoil Naisiúnta na hÉireann, Má Nuad agus baint aige leis an Fhráma Tagartha Comónta Eorpach do Theangacha más rud é go dteastaíonn uait cáilíocht a bhaint amach sa Ghaeilge Mura bhfuil leibhéal sásúil duit anseo, bí i dteagmháil le hOifig na Gaeilge mar gheall ar roghanna foghlama ar líne agus féin staidéir chomh maith le roghanna eile.

Tá baill foirne i Sráid Bolton agus Sráid Áinséir ag eagrú Ciorcail Chomhrá chomh maith chun Gaeilge a fhoghlaim agus a chleachtadh i suíomhanna neamhfhoirmeálta.
