SciFest science fair in DIT on April 30th

SciFest is a local one-day science fair held in a number of third level colleges and open to all second level students. A SciFest fair includes a competition and exhibition of projects, science demonstrations in the college laboratories and a prize-giving ceremony. SciFest aims to encourage a love of science through an investigative approach to learning and to provide an opportunity for students to display their scientific discoveries.

DIT are hosting a SciFest science fair this year in the Gleeson Theatre, Kevin St. on Thursday April 30th. There are 100 projects entered for the competition and over 200 students will be taking part. The local organizer is Blathnaid Sheridan ( ) and the national coordinator is Sheila Porter.

SciFest is jointly funded by Intel and Discover Science and Engineering and is supported by a number of other partners. The project thus creates a valuable link between the second and third level education sectors and between education and industry.”
