International Scholarship for DIT music student

Utsav Lal, a piano student of Padhraic O Cuinneagain at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, has been awarded an International Scholarship by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London.

ABRSM offers a total of eight international scholarships each academic year, one undergraduate and one postgraduate at each of the four Royal Schools of Music: Royal Academy of Music , Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. These awards are offered in connection with, and on the recommendation of, each of the Royal Schools of Music.

The international scholarship provides full payment of tuition fees for the duration of the Undergraduate programmes, a grant of £4500 towards living costs and a flight home on satisfactory completion of the course.  As a scholarship recipient, Utsav will now undertake to work as ABRSM spokesperson, assisting in their work and publicity during his course duration.

Utsav was accepted into, and received very handsome scholarship offers from, all colleges that he applied to, namely: New England Conservatory - Boston; The New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music - New York; Berklee College of Music - Boston; Leeds College of Music; Royal Welsh Academy of Music & Dance.

It is a great honour for Utsav to be chosen as the recipient of this prestigious scholarship from amongst thousands of international candidates. He has chosen to pursue his Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Jazz Piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, Glasgow. 

Utsav will continue to progress his classical piano training at RSAMD under Fali Pavri.
