Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh & Gradam ITBÁC

Bronnadh gradam ar Mhicheál Ó Muircheartaigh ag ócáid speisialta in Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Chliath, Sráid Aungier ar an 9 Nollaig 2010. Eagraíodh an ócáid chun ómós a léiriú agus buíochas a ghabháil le Micheál as a mhórshaothar saoil ar son na Gaeilge agus ar son na hIriseoireachta. Bhronn an Dr Nora French, Ceann Scoil na Meán gradam ar léith ar Mhicheál thar ceann Scoil na Meán agus Oifig na Gaeilge agus thug Íte Ní Chionnaith, Léachtóir Sinsearach le Gaeilge i Scoil na Meán agus Siobhán Nic Gaoithín, Oifigeach Gaeilge na hInstitiúide moladh an-ard do Mhicheál as a raibh bainte amach aige ar son na Gaeilge agus ar son na hIriseoireachta. Sheol Micheal ó Muircheartaigh nuachtán Gaeilge na mac léinn sa tríú bliain Iriseoireachta ‘CUMARSÁID 2010’ chomh maith agus ghuigh sé gach rath ar na mic léinn óga i Scoil na hIriseoireachta agus i Scoil na Meán agus léirigh sé go raibh áthas an domhain air glacadh leis an ngradam speisialta seo. Rinne sé comhghairdeas freisin le hInstitiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath as a bhfuil bainte amach acu go dtí seo i gcur chun cinn na Gaeilge agus i gcur chun cinn na hIriseoireachta agus na craoltóireachta.

Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh was honoured by Oifig na Gaeilge and the School of Media, Dublin Institute of Technology at a special event in DIT Aungier St. on the 9th December to mark his outstanding contribution to the promotion of the Irish language and to Journalism. Micheal was presented with a special DIT award from Oifig na Gaeilge & the School of Media by Dr. Nora French, the Head of the School of Media and tributes were paid to the exceptional broadcaster by Íte Ní Chionnaith, Senior Lecturer in Irish in the School of Media and Siobhán Nic Gaoithín, Irish Language Officer in DIT.

Micheal Ó Muircheartaigh also launched ‘CUMARSAID 2010’, the 3rd year Journalism student’s annual Irish language newspaper at the event and he wished the young journalists in the School of Media every success in their future careers. He said he was delighted to be honoured in such fashion by the Dublin Institute of Technology and he congratulated DIT on their achievements to date in Journalism, Media and the Irish language.
