The large group of Network members in attendance heard Julie Bernard and Dr Catherine Bates of the DIT Community Links Programme outline the significant achievements of the programme’s various community focussed initiatives.

One of the key objectives of the programme, which is supported by a range of corporate partners, is to improve access to Third Level education in DIT for students from areas with traditionally low levels of participation.

The DIT Community Links Programme has been a frontrunner in successfully developing and managing initiatives which bring together academia, community and industry.

Mr Gary Tierney of Hewlett Packard, long-standing supporters of Community Links, provided an industry perspective on the potential of industry and academic partnerships to make a positive impact in the community.
