11th March 2011

One of the biggest and most exciting events on the DIT calendar, the DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show takes place in Vicar Street on Tuesday, 29th March. All proceeds raised from this year’s show will go to the DIT Foundation, in particular to the Student Assistance Fund, which helps students who are in severe financial difficulty to complete their studies.  Leading car manufacturer Alfa Romeo is the title sponsor for the event.

Now in its eighth year, the theme for this year is ‘Romeo and Giuletta-a bad romance’. Inspired by the new Alfa Romeo Giuletta, the audience can expect a night of ‘daring, romance and story-telling through fashion’.

The DIT Fashion Show is run entirely by students from DIT and indeed this year nearly 70 current DIT students are involved in the Show.  The DIT Fashion Show was started in 2003 by four enthusiastic second year students - Ciara O' Donovan, Andrea Byrne, Julie Sheehan and Lou Conlon.  Now an annual event, and in its eight year, the show has grown from strength to strength and is now seen as a nationally anticipated charity event, with an exciting high-energy national Student Design Award.  The show has been voted Best Event in DIT in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2005 it was voted Best Event by a college nationwide at the annual BICS awards.

With the best in forward thinking fashion, and dance talent involved in the show, it is definitely a night not to be missed!
