What is . .. time saving… life changing… essay helping … info finding… ?¿

12th September 2011

It’s the 15-minute guide to the DIT Library!  This year the Library at Bolton Street is offering a new approach to help students learn about how the library can become their most valuable ally.  Instead of a one-off induction tour, the ingenious librarians have organized a month-long series of shorter, more focused drop-in sessions.  Starting on 19th September, students can drop in to any of the sessions to find out all they need to know to get started – whether that’s using the catalogue; finding out about journals or specific resources available for their programme;  how to reference and include endnotes or how to do a literature review…. or simply how to photocopy, print or scan available material.
According to Librarian Brian Gillespie, “This is the kind of information students need, and we’d like them to feel comfortable and at home in the library from the word go.  This is where they will find all the information they need to crack that first assignment, so getting to know it in the first few weeks of the semester is going to save time and stress later on.  Each of these short sessions will last about 15 minutes, there’s no need to book – just come along!”
The sessions are open to all students, but if you’re in first year, this is perfect for you.
