3rd March 2011

Dublin Institute of Technology has won the Education Award at the 2011 Irish Logistics and Transport Awards. This award is for the third level institute which offers the most innovative and relevant courses in the transport and logistics industry.

DIT provides a number of courses, both technical and managerial, across a range of disciplines focused on the Transport and Logistics Industry. The diversity of the courses provided reflects its involvement in training for all transport modes - Road, Rail Sea and Air. The courses on offer are full or part time and include programmes like the Jet Engine Overhaul Procedures programme and the recently launched BEngTech in Automotive Technology and Diagnostics. DIT also runs a number of postgraduate and corporate programmes through its research centre NITL which it set up to provide expertise in transport, logistics and operations management matters (total supply chain integration and management).

DIT is delighted to receive the award and Declan Allen, Assistant Head of DIT’s Department of Transport Engineering collected the award on behalf of DIT and NITL at a special ceremony in the Burlington Hotel on Thursday, February 10th. The awards attracted over 100 entries with judges commenting on the overall high standards which made choosing the eventual winners all the more difficult. Judging was under the auspices of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), the recognised professional body for all professionals involved in the transport and logistics industries in Ireland.
