DIT / Oklahoma University team place first in Associated Schools of Construction Design Build International competition

Great news from Dallas, Texas at the International Design Build competition - DIT/ Oklahoma University team place first in Associated Schools of Construction Design Build International competition!

The Dublin Institute of Technology International team was place first in the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region V/TEXO Design Build competition sponsored by Speed Fab-Crete.

The International team of DIT final year Construction Management (DT117) students Peter Whoriskey and Brendan Towey and 4th year Architecture student Simon Harrington teamed up with three College of Architecture students from Oklahoma University. Molly Lyons and Dan Grasham (Construction Science) with Brandon Coates (Architecture) represented OU in this well established student test.
The competition required the team to respond to a Request For Proposal for the design build services to provide design-build services for a new Primary School for Arlington Classics Academy, Arlington, Texas. The team following the sixteen hour ‘lockdown’ on Saturday 12th February, from 8am until midnight, headed to Texo Headquarters, Dallas to present their binders along with the other ancillary material in advance of the 6pm hand in deadline on the 13th. They were then required to make a thirty-minute presentation to the panel of judges on the 14th Feb at the TEXO venue. The team placed first ahead of many of their International and American counterparts.

Already DIT has received an invitation to come back to compete in 2012 – well done to all concerned!  The students remain in Dallas to visit the construction plant of the competition sponsors Speed Fab-Crete.
