The National Skills Competition has been running since 1956 and aims to encourage excellence in industrial and service skills, to provide the opportunity for participants to display their competence in a competitive arena and to increase awareness of the calibre of apprentices in Ireland today.

The winner of each Skill Competition will receive the prestigious Silver Medal.  Some national winners may also be selected to represent Ireland at the WorldSkills Competition to be held October 2011 at ExCeL in London.

Dublin Institute of Technology is particularly delighted that a number of students who were medal winners trained and educated at DIT.
