RTÉ Television appoints DIT Graduate as New Entertainment Commissioning Editor

RTÉ Television has appointed Bill Malone as the new Entertainment Commissioning Editor for Television following a very competitive application process. Reporting to the Director of Programmes, the Commissioning Editor is a senior member of RTÉ Television’s creative and editorial management team. The role involves commissioning RTÉ One’s Entertainment programming from both in-house and independent producers; the editorial, financial and staffing responsibilities for in-house Entertainment programming, and the development of RTÉ Entertainment brands across other media platforms.

A DIT graduate of Journalism and Criminology, Bill Malone is one of RTÉ's most experienced and respected programme makers. He has won national and international awards for documentary making and Young Peoples Programmes and has also worked extensively in Current Affairs as a producer with Prime Time, culminating in the Prime Time Investigates documentary Carry On Regardless which was one of the most-watched programmes in the history of the series.  However, it is RTÉ Entertainment where Malone has worked most prolifically, as producer of The Late Late Show, Reeling In The Years, The Saturday Night Show, before going on to Executive Produce hit shows like Don't Tell The Bride and ICA Boot camp.
