Student Leadership Workshop´╗┐

Over the past four years, DIT and Campus Life have been working hard to develop the skills of the students who run and contribute to the student organisations that are an essential part of the DIT Student Experience. These practical leadership skills contribute significantly to the students’ employability skills, and are a good fit with DIT’s stated aim to be the HEI of choice for career-focused education.

DIT Campus Life and the Societies Office have now partnered with Common Purpose to deliver a high quality, intensive, two-day residential leadership training programme. Common Purpose is an organisation committed to supporting the development of leaders who contribute to positive change in their community. They have 20 years experience of delivering high quality training programmes across the globe. Common Purpose have developed a training programme for student leaders in the UK, the Frontrunner programme, but the DIT PitStop programme is the first time that they will work with higher education students in Ireland.

The programme is a designed to enhance leadership and communication skills in an interactive, participatory learning environment. To facilitate participation, numbers are limited to 30 students from across the Institute. Students should be involved in leadership positions inside or outside of DIT

Participants will be assisted to identify their leadership style and learn how to effect positive change in their organisation, college or community. The programme will give an opportunity to talk to and learn from leaders who are leading change in their organisations, and will also allow frank conversations with senior leaders from within DIT.

Common purpose and Campus Life are running this conference and there will be a number of directors and heads of service from DIT there. Guest speakers such as Elaine Geraghty, CEO Inspire Ireland Foundation will also be in attendance and there is a certificate at the end of this course.

The Course will be run over 2 days Thursday the 10 and Friday the 11th of November in the Maldron hotel in Tallaght from 10am-5pm, transport, food and accommodation is provided and a bus will leave DIT Aungier st on Thursday at 9am.
