DIT Foundation supports Best Will in the World Week

18 October 2012: Leaving a will is the best way to protect your loved ones first and foremost, but it is also an opportunity to leave a gift to your chosen charity or foundation. During Best Will in the World Week, from Monday 22nd - Friday 26th October, everyone is encouraged to give some thought to making or updating a will. To make that task easier, participating solicitors are offering a will consultation for just €50.

Best Will in the World Week is organised by MyLegacy, a coalition of over 70 Irish charities, including DIT Foundation, and more than 200 solicitors across the country.   The DIT Foundation is a registered charity (CHY 14226) which was established to support DIT in its mission as a comprehensive higher education institution, and to enhance the experience and opportunities for current and future students.    During ‘Best Will in the  World Week, the Foundation is inviting friends of DIT to consider including a legacy gift in their will to further the work of DIT and the Foundation.  Every gift, regardless of how large or small, can make a real and lasting difference, and will be your personal contribution to enhancing educational opportunities in Dublin City.

A legacy gift already making a difference at DIT

An example of a legacy gift that is already making a difference at DIT is The Michael O’Donnell Memorial Fund.   The Fund was established in 2007 as a result of a substantial legacy from the estate of the late Michael O’Donnell, former principal of Bolton Street College of Technology and the first acting President of DIT.  The stated purpose of the legacy was to support engineering teaching and research activities at DIT and the development of engineering facilities at the new DIT campus at Grangegorman, and a programme of work has been developed to fulfil that mission .  Since it was launched, a number of DIT graduates have made further donations to the Fund which is managed by DIT Foundation. To see the fund at work and the amazing opportunities it has created, click here.
