DIT graduate nominated for major photography award

30th January 2012: DIT photography graduate Darek Fortas has been nominated for the very prestigious FOAM Paul Huf Award.   Darek graduated in 2011 and his project "Coal Story", currently on view at the Copper House Gallery in Dublin, is one of five projects selected for this highly prestigious international award.


The Paul Huf prize is awarded each year by FOAM to “a young, talented photographer under the age of 35, who has already developed a personal visual idiom and is producing work that is distinctive in terms of content as well as formal aspects.”   The Award is named after the influential Dutch photographer, Paul Huf  who was one of the founders of Foam_Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam.   The winner receives a significant cash prize of € 20,000, will have a portfolio published in Foam Magazine’s Talent issue and will also be invited to exhibit at Foam in September 2012. This exhibition may also tour to venues in other countries.
