Hothouse launches DIT Inventor Competition 2012

26th April 2012: The DIT Inventor Competition 2012 is now open for entries from DIT staff and students. Now in its 6th year, the competition run by Hothouse Technology Transfer Office, promotes and recognises innovation and creativity in DIT.


The competition is divided into the following award categories:

  • Best Overall Invention Award sponsored by Hanna, Moore & Curley-prize €1,500
  • Best Staff member, Post Grad and Researcher Invention Award sponsored by DIT Hothouse-prize €500
  • Best Undergraduate Student Invention Award sponsored by DIT Hothouse-prize €500

To enter simply email a description of your invention answering the the following questions to

  • What have you invented?
  • What are the advantages?    
  • Where will it be used?

Please note entries should be no more than 600 words in total.

Applicants should make sure that their idea/invention is not already on the market. 

Closing date Wednesday 23rd May 2012
